THE HOLY WAR-The Stakes Are High!

Did you know that both God and Satan have a plan for your life? Let’s examine these plans and see what effect each has on our lives.

God’s Plan For Man

God loves man.

  • What does John 3:16 tell you about the extent of God’s love for Man? (God loves the whole world.)
  • According to 1 John 4:9-10, what was the greatest manifestation of the love of God that man has ever seen? (God sending His own Son to be the propitiation—or satisfaction—for our sins.)

God offers man blessings in his life.

Read the verses listed below and see what blessing is available to people today because of the love of God.

  • John 10:10 (Abundant Life)
  • John 15:9-11 (Full, abiding joy)

God has a future plan for man.

Read the following verse and see what they say about what God has planned for His people in the future.

  • John 14:2-3 (Christ will return and take us to the place He has prepared for us.)
  • 1 John 3:2 (When He appears, we will be like Him.)

Satan’s Plan for man

Satan uses man.

  • According to John 13:2, 21-30, Satan used Judas Iscariot.
  • What was the end result? Acts 1:16-18 (Judas hanged himself, fell, and his intestines spilled out.)

Satan seeks to destroy man.

  • Read Job 2:1-7. How far did Satan want to go in destroying Job? (He wanted to go all the way, taking his life!)
  • According to John 8:44, what did Jesus say the Devil was “from the beginning”? (A murderer!)

Satan has no future plan for man.

  • Read Revelation 20:7-15. What will be the ultimate fate of all those who follow Satan? (They will cast into the lake of fire!)

THE HOLY WAR

WHY DOES SATAN HATE YOU?

Last week in our Wednesday night lesson on “The Holy War” we learned that Satan’s primary target is the one creature made in God’s image—man. You may ask, “Why does Satan Hate man so much?” Read the following passages and find out for yourself.

Why we have an enemy

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” –Isaiah 14:12-14

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” –2 Corinthians 4:3-4

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” –1 Peter 5:8-9

Now answer the following Questions:

  1. What is Satan’s ultimate goal?
  2. How can “blinding” the unsaved help Satan reach this goal?
  3. How does devouring the saved aid Satan’s cause?
